3 Best Hikes In The United States
for 2022

Hiking is a wonderful activity to do if you’re interested in visiting somewhere new and experiencing the great outdoors. A hike will ensure you’re traversing different trails, seeing some truly amazing sights that you won’t see anywhere else.

In the US, we are lucky to have a whole host of hiking trails for anyone to attempt. Some are better than others, which is why I’ve collected the best hikes you can do in 2022 – all of which can be seen below:

Tonto Trail

Head to the Grand Canyon National Park and you will find the Tonto Trail waiting for you. This is a fantastic hike as you are literally inside the canyon itself, giving you a totally new way of experiencing this natural wonder. If you thought the Grand Canyon was big, this will really put things into perspective.

There are plenty of campsites you can reserve in advance before attempting this hike, and it is totally worth it for the stunning views of the canyon. You will see red rock formations for days, along with a beautiful look at the iconic Colorado River.

The Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is a marked trail that will take you all the way from Springer Mountain (Georgia) to Mount Katahdin (Maine). It spans over 2,100 miles and is the longest hiking-only trail in the world. Loads of people try to complete this every year, but quite a few will fail. That’s okay, there are plenty of rest points and places where you can get off the trail if it’s too challenging for you. One of the biggest difficulties people have with this hike is maintaining enough energy every day.

As hiker Brian McPeek says, you need around 3,500 calories per day – which is a lot when you’re out hiking and can’t cook much food! So, make sure you have lots of energy-boosting snacks with you to ensure you see all the gorgeous sights this trail can provide.

Cracker Lake Trail

Cracker Lake is part of the Glacier National Park in Montana, which is strangely one of the least-visited National Parks in the country. Quite why this is the case, I have no idea. It’s arguably one of the most visually striking and beautiful places you can visit. There are plenty of trails around the park, but this one is the best. It will take you to the heart of Cracker Lake, which is a glorious crystal clear lake in the heart of the glacier mountains.

Your hike begins from the Piegan Pass at the south part of the parking lot next to the hotel there. It’s easy to find as it is well signposted, and you could technically manage it in a day. However, your best bet is to go there, stay overnight, and come back. You want plenty of time to take in the stunning views, trust me!

The beauty of the US is that there are so many National Parks and other destinations that are perfect for hiking. If you want to experience the great outdoors and see something new, try going on one of these hikes in the near future.
