About Of Whiskey and Words

A Travel and Lifestyle Blog

The internet is full of blogs about people who quit their job to travel the world, hoping to inspire you to do the same. That’s not what Of Whiskey and Words is about. Yes, it is a travel and lifestyle blog.  Yes, it’s true that I quit my job to travel the world, but I also came back.  I learned that more important than any next adventure is finding a life of balance and purpose.  That as important as traveling is you have to seek the adventure from your daily life as well.

The purpose for Of Whiskey and Words is to show that it’s possible to balance two different yet inseparable pieces of yourself in order to live a complete life. For me, that’s the nomad and the traditionalist.  Throughout this travel and lifestyle blog, you’ll find tips on traveling and stories about my adventures. But, you’ll also find writings on real-life issues: love, change, and mindfulness.

My hope is Of Whiskey and Words shows readers that they don’t have to choose one life over the other. That they can learn to embrace themselves and seek adventure in everyday situations whether that’s traveling the world or working 9 to 5. I hope having a front-row seat to my life, including my success and struggles, will inspire you to see the world on your terms and I’ll do my best to give you a few travel tips along the way.

Planning a trip with no idea where to start?

Check out OW&W’s Travel Resources

Over the last 8 years, I’ve traveled to over 50 countries, so it’s safe to say I know somethings about how to pick a place, plan a trip, and not die while I’m there.  There are certain sites, apps, and gear that I won’t plan a trip or travel without.  These are things I’ve discovered of years of trial and error. In order to save you some time, I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of all the different travel resources I use when planning or taking a trip.
