While visiting Mexico without visiting a beach is certainly acceptable because of the sheer abundance of other activities that you can partake in, id highly suggest doing so, for, in my personal opinion, you’d totally be missing out on some of the best beaches in the world.

One of those beaches is the famed Los Cerritos Beach, located in El Pescadero just 10-minutes from the Todos Santos area. A highlight for many who choose to vacation in Baja, Mexico, Los Cerritos Beach is a serene beach comprising perfect white sand, picturesque skies, and several recreational water activities to give a try! 

Just remember that due to its popularity, Los Cerritos Beach tends to get crowded during peak season, particularly during peak hours of the day. While this shouldn’t be a deterrent to visiting, it’s worth being aware of what to expect at the very least. 

Take a Surfing Lesson

While Los Cerritos Beach is certainly one of, if not the most popular, there are many more beaches where that came from where you can catch the waves. If you’re not so experienced at you’d like to book a surf lesson or two, the opportunities are there, no matter the beach you choose! 

With world-class waves and renowned instructors, there’s no better place to start your surfing journey than in Mexico. Other popular beaches in and around the area include but are certainly not limited to Las Palmas Beach, Balandra Beach, and Los Cabos.

Notably, the best surf school is, in fact, located on Cerritos Beach and it’s called CRT Surf School. Active now for over 15-years, CRT Surf School specializes in both beginner and advanced instruction. Whatever your experience level, you should definitely check them out!

Spend the Day Exploring Todos Santos Plaza

Known to be a vibrant and active town in Mexica, Todos Santos has become a major attraction for tourists and locals to visit year-round. Comprising art galleries, museums, churches, restaurants and bars, and only a short walk to several beaches, it’s the ideal location to spend the day, if not a couple of days during your vacation. 

Heck, you may even decide to spend the duration of your trip in Todos Santos in one of its five-star beachfront villas, hotel and spas, or independent rental properties. 

If you’re a real art geek and creative person, you might want to consider visiting during the off-season at the beginning of February, for they host an annual art festival comprising paintings, sculptures, dance exhibitions, crafts, and music concerts. 

Take an Afternoon to Exhibit Logan Gallery 

One popular art studio in Todos Santos that’s certainly worth your visit whether you’re an art buff or not is the Logan Gallery. Beyond the magical architecture of the exterior of the building, Logan Gallery boasts magnificent paintings that will evoke emotion in even the most amateur of viewers. 

Whether you want to purchase a print of your own or you simply want an engaging afternoon activity to partake in, the Logan Gallery is certainly one to check off the list. 

Even if it doesn’t end up being your “cup of tea”, it’s conveniently located near several restaurants, bars, and beaches so don’t hesitate to bounce should you begin to crave something more exciting. 

Wonder Around Los Pinos Nature Park

If you’re choosing to visit Mexico for a vacation, you’re likely someone who enjoys the outdoors, the warmth, and nature. If so, Los Pinos Park is a must-visit, whether you’re traveling solo, a young family with kids, or anything in between. 

Even if you do enjoy the sun but you’re looking to find some shade from the inevitable heat that’ll hug you daily, Los Pinos Park makes for a great afternoon intermission from the beach. Just grab a cold drink, find a park bench or large tree, and perch beneath the shade. 

If you’re lucky, you may even walk into a live entertainment event at its very own outdoor amphitheatre where they often have live music, movies, or other forms of entertainment during the spring and summer months.  

Hop on a Camel’s Back for an Outback Safari

If you’re looking for more of a tourist excursion that you can brag about when you return home, booking a camelback safari is certainly one for the photo album! Not to mention, it’s an ideal way to explore the beauty of the Baja outback. 

Whatever tour you choose, because there are many, you’ll be welcomed by friendly and experienced guides that will take you through the most scenic desert journey you could imagine. 

In fact, depending on how close you get to the pacific shore, you may be lucky enough to see some humpback whale breaches whilst on camelback! This tour might cost you a pretty penny, but it’s totally worth it! 

Attend a Show at Teatro Marquez de Leon 

Also located in Todos Santos, Teatro Marquez de Leon is not only a charming piece of Mexican architecture but also offers its visitors entertainment spanning from performances to exhibitions. 

Whatever it is, you’ll be sure to be entertained. Just note that all performances happen to be in Spanish, so you might want to lower your expectations of understanding if you’re a non-Spanish-speaking visitor. 

When you’re finished, be sure to explore the rest of the town of Todos Santos! 

Enjoy the Local Cuisine

From chilaquiles, pozole, and tacos, to enchiladas, tostadas, and chiles, there’s no shortage of deliciously mouth-watering food to be had in Mexico, whether in Baja or otherwise.

The best part is that you don’t have to look very far to find a local restaurant that offers the local cuisine you’re likely craving.

While there are certainly too many restaurants to count, some of the best to recommend in Cerritos include Landi’s, Barracuda Cantina, Shaka’s, Freesouls Cerritos, and Casa Maya Restaurant!

Hike to Your Hearts Content

Withstanding the many beaches, Mexico boasts incredibly mountainous landscapes for visitors and locals alike to hike their day away, reaching wondrous views at the end of it. Cerritos and its surrounding towns are no different! 

Whether nearby Cerritos Beach or beyond, you’ll have no trouble finding pristine hiking trails that are accompanied by amazing greenery and nature galore. If you’re lucky, you might even find some hidden beaches during your trek.

Finally, if you’re with a group and you feel safe, definitely consider hiking in the evening to catch the sunset; to call it dreamy is an understatement. 

That’s my list of the best things to do in Los Cerritos, Baja

But the best thing you can do is just enjoy relax and enjoy Cerritos, Baja, Mexico! 

Mexico is abundant in its outdoor recreational offerings, and Baja is no different. With endless activities to partake in, from beaches, eats, and historical tours, there will never be a dull moment; unless, of course, you choose to do completely nothing which is totally acceptable because, well, it’s a vacation after all!
